I received an email the other day that got me really excited about the start-up I'm working on. Not that I'm not excited about my start-up in the first place, however, as an entrepreneur, it's always nice to get confirmation of the potential value that you are creating. It's important to figure out whether you are heading down the right path.
A friend of mine was looking to get some perspectives from a group of professionals in the media and entertainment space (people who were outside of his network), and thought that I could connect him. Well, little did he know that's exactly what ProspectLinker does... and was exactly what ProspectLinker did.
Here's his email (I hope he doesn't mind me sharing this):
Hey Andre -ProspectLinker ultimately linked my friend to media / entertainment professionals and others, who answered his questions and were very helpful in providing him with resources.
hope you are well. Hey I need some immediate assistance. Do you know any professionals in the media and entertainment industry that can provide answers to the following questions?
1. What is your opinion on the current investing climate of the media and entertainment space in emerging markets such as Africa?
2. What is your position on the current debate regarding free music streaming over the internet with the likes of Pandora and its implications on the music industry?
3. Is music streaming substitutional for sales? If so, shouldn’t artist and songwriters get paid by music streaming service providers?
4. Do you know of any venture capital and or private equity funds that primarily invest in the media and entertainment space?
5. The media and entertainment sector is one of the most dynamic. Having said that, how would you suggest for one to best position himself to be successful and maintain such success over the long term as an entrepreneur and investor in the space?
I need responses by Friday. So please let me know if you know that can be of assistance as as soon as you can.

ProspectLinker (beta) will be the best place to get information from people outside of your network.
If you've ever asked the question -- "Do you know any people in a particular industry (that are outside of your network) who can provide answers to my questions?", then you will find value in ProspectLinker.
Here's an invite to join -- http://bit.ly/3v1Uq
I wrote a more detailed blog post about ProspectLinker's value proposition here. Check it out.
Cheers,
Andre
