My company is evolving!

Hey All-

My apologies for not posting in awhile.

I would like to share some of the things I've been working on with my company.

It's really funny how start-ups evolve. I've always read that start-ups take about 3 tries before they get it right. Or, that their original idea/plan isn't the one that ends up being successful.

Well, I recently read an article by Reid Hoffman, CEO and Founder of LinkedIn, saying the exact same thing, "Few business plans ever pan out like their owners intend. PayPal started as a plan to beam payments between Palm Pilots. Google raised funds with a vision to capitalize on enterprise search and ended up in advertising. I think the process for us has been quite similar to what Reid Hoffman has mentioned. ProspectLinker (formerly known as nkdGuru) started as a website to give and get advice between students and young professionals. However, as much as we've tested and tried a couple of ways to accomplish that original plan, what's great to see is the current outcome is still the origin of why we started this journey in the first place, but better -- to create an amazing source for sharing each others' ideas, advice, issues, and thoughts.

In light of the company's recent evolution, many of our friends have asked us whether or not we plan to change the name. The answer at the moment is no. We feel ProspectLinker still fits the vision that we have -- that there should be a central location where great thinkers and doers can share and get feedback / viewpoints from each other.

The word prospect means viewpoint. We essentially link you to the viewpoints of others that could be inside or outside of your network.

So, in conclusion, what is ProspectLinker? Very simply, ProspectLinker has evolved into a community driven website for professional conversations. People engage in professional conversations with others, who could be inside or outside of their network, to gain each others' insights and viewpoints.

We are currently working on a fairly major re-haul of the site to better provide an easy and quick way for users to start conversations, follow them, and contribute their ideas, viewpoints, and insights towards them.

We look forward to this release.
